Wendell Hugh Gillette (66) passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Diversicare of Amory. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He graduated from Pittman High School in Gatlinburg. He was of Baptist faith. He was a carpenter and heavy machine operator. He worked for Mastercraft Builders from 1987 to 2015. He loved to sit on a pool bank and fish. He was an avid bird hunter with his dogs Queenie, Pat, Joker or Blackie. Wendell also loved to read.
Services will be 1 pm Saturday, February 8, 2020 in the chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Robert McCoy, Bro. Jim Petermann and Bro. Kim Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Gillette of Baldwyn; his son, Eric Gillette (Janna) of Baldwyn; his daughters, Callie Gillette of Guntown and Cassie Gillette McCoy (James Dayton) of AR; his grandchildren, Maverick Gillette and Emma McCoy; his siblings, Carla Monteer of TN, Paula Edwards (Kim) of NC; Dr. Donald M. Gillette (Pam) of VA; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Miller of Baldwyn; his special ole buddy, Carl King of Marietta; 1 niece and 5 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Gillette and Evelyn McCarter Gillette Young; his step-father, Alton Young; his father-in-law, Jerry Miller and his brother-in-law, Tom Monteer.
Pallbearers are; Ricky Hathcock, W.C. Hinds, Jimmy Fortner, Chip Nelson, Jerry McCreary and Ray (Cowboy).
