Wanda Sue Garrett DeVaughn, 74, left her earthly home for her Heavenly home on January 23, 2024. She was born March 7th 1949 to Bythel Garrett and Gladys Michael Garrett and raised by Clyde & Gladys Gardner. She retired as a senior employee at Lucky Star in Baldwyn, MS. Wanda is survived by her sons, Mitchell DeVaughn, Micheal DeVaughn, Mathew DeVaughn, and a daughter, Mitzi Cook; fourteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Joyce Webb, Phyllis Birch and Mickey Renee Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy; brother, Sammy Garrett; sisters Edith Coats and Janice Wallace.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and exceptional grandmother. Wanda’s greatest pleasures in life came from spending time with family/friends, decorating for holidays, and her lifelong admiration of horses. Wanda was very kindhearted and lovingly adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Wanda and her late husband Troy built the strong and loving foundation on which their family were able to flourish in life. “Nana & Pop” are both deeply missed by their family and friends but solace is found in knowing they have now been reunited.
“There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues… are created, strengthened and maintained.” – Winston Churchill
Due to the unfortunate effect COVID19 pandemic had on prior funeral processions, Wanda was not able to have a burial service for her late husband and therefore did not want to have one in return. Combined celebration of life for Wanda and Troy to be determined by family later. Wanda has been respectfully left in the care of Kesler Funeral Home in Baldwyn MS to fulfill her cremation request.
