Wallis Bruce Dees Obituary

Wallis Bruce Dees (60) passed Sunday, March 31, 2024 at his home in Ripley. He was born March 15, 1964 to the late James Ervin and Wanda Jean Wallis Dees. He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and attended NEMCC.

From the age of 14, Bruce fought and persevered obstacle after obstacle. He was in the accident that was fatal to his mother and near fatal to Bruce. He lived with pain and scars from the wreck for the rest of his life without one complaint. Writing poetry was the one way Bruce dealt with all the pain and sorrow that filled his life. He had some of his work published in "The Mississippi Book of Poetry." Bruce also wrote poems dedicated to 9/11 and sent copies to the Mayor of New York City which in return sent a heart-felt acknowledgment back to Bruce.

Another passion Bruce had was trying to turn others trash into treasure for someone else. Bruce always found the good in everything and everybody. Not only has Bruce been a positive influence on his family, he has touched so many people from the East Coast to the West Coast with his obedient servants heart.

Bruce loved his family, friends and his Facebook friends dearly. Bruce was always there, if at all possible, when he was needed. He would show up unexpectedly and just listen. One of the many great thing about Bruce was that he always listened with his heart.

Services are 1 pm Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Concord Baptist Church with Bro. Howard Goolsby, Bro. Marvin Robbins and Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Concord Baptist Church.

Bruce is survived by his brothers, Mike Dees (Glenda Hall) of Ripley and Chris Dees of Starkville; his sister, Regina Kuykendall of Booneville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bruce is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Ira & Kate Morris Wallis, George Irvin Dees (Wardie) and Bernice Moore Kelly (Bob) and his brother-in-law, Harold Kuykendall.

Pallbearers are Kelly Luther, Phil Koon, Adam Kirkman, Cassidy Jumper, Meacha Wilson and Ryan Dees.

Even though our hearts are breaking, and the little cream color house at 706 South Main will never be the same, we can't help but smile because his best life has only just begun.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff and Gentiva Hospice and to all of Bruce's healthcare providers.
