Teddy Dewayne "Buddy" Downs

Teddy Dewayne "Buddy" Downs (76) passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at his home in Cairo. He was a veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his 4-wheeler and anything outdoors. He also loved to go to yard sales and flea markets. His biggest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Marty Downs of Cairo; his daughters, Julie LaBorde (Calvin) of Cairo and Krystal Petty of Booneville; his brothers, Jackie Downs of Cairo, Jr. Downs of Cairo, Thomas Downs (Dorothy) of Rienzi, Randy Downs of Cairo and Billy Downs of Iuka; his sisters, Carolyn Patterson (Bill Hall) of Booneville, Dianne Russell (Eddie) of Rienzi and Cathy Fiveash (Ricky) of Theo; his grandchildren, Courtney Petty (Shane Kitchens), Kelcey Perry (Ron), Jonathan Harp and TJ Petty and his beloved great-grandchildren, Trevor, Michael, Gauge, Bentley, Jasolyn and Kameron. He was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Holder Downs; his father, Clifton C. Downs; his mother, Evelyn Gist; his brothers, Danny and Curtis Downs and his sister, Barbara Downs.
