Shirley Ruth (Felks) Baswell

Shirley Ruth Felks Baswell, a lifelong caregiver and beloved family member, passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born on January 16, 1956, to the late Oscar and Shirley B. Felks, Shirley dedicated her professional years to the medical field. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, she served as a nurse at Iuka Hospital, where her kindness and skill left a lasting impact on her patients. Long after her retirement, she found great joy in visiting with former patients, often sharing stories and catching up on their lives. She was an avid reader who could often be found lost in a good book, but her greatest treasure was her family. Whether it was a quiet afternoon or a holiday gathering, Shirley's favorite place to be was surrounded by the people she loved.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Marie Felks Davis and her nephew, Aaron Keith Hughes.

She is survived by a family who will miss her dearly: her daughter, Miranda Linton Williford (Justin); her sister, Nelda Hughes (Keith); her brothers, Edwin Felks (Debbie) and Joe Felks (Missy) and a host of nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her immense pride.

A small graveside service was held by the family.
