Obituary
Shelby Joseph "Joe" Bates (64) passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023 in Indianapolis, IN. He was apart of Journeyman Wireman out of Local 852 in Corinth. He loved riding motorcycles, shooting guns, swimming, going to concerts, tending to his horses & dogs and spending time with his family and friends.
Services are 2 pm Friday, May 19, 2023 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Johnson officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Forked Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2 pm Friday in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
Joe is survived by his wife, Patricia Ireland-Bates of Indianapolis; his son, Shelby Bates of Cairo; his daughter, Dessa Bates of Indianapolis; his brothers, Wesley R. Bates of Cairo and John Robert Bates (Tracy) of Cairo; his sister, Diane Bates of Cairo; his grandson, Jeremiah Bates of Cairo and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Bates Sr. & Frankie Lee Engle Bates and his brothers, John R. Bates, Jr. and William Randall Bates.
Pallbearers are Shelby Bates, John Russell Bates III, John Robert Bates and Dylan Bates.
