Roy Evans Lambert

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 2:00 o'clock p.m. at Kesler Funeral Home - Booneville Chapel with Brother Dewayne Morgan and Brother William Hayward Burcham officiating.

Roy walked triumphantly into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at his home in Burton, Mississippi. Friends and family can just see the big smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye right now! While he lost his lengthy battle with cancer, our Roy won the war when he entered the gates of heaven and heard the words, "well done, my good and faithful servant". It is this knowledge that will give his family and friends peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Roy was born June 2, 1943 to Claude Evans and Annie Mae Newborn Lambert; he was number five in their family of seven children. After graduating high school at Thrasher, he spent some time up north working in various trades. He was then drafted into the army where he served basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Most of his time in the service was spent in Texas as a medic. Returning from the service, Roy attended Northeast Community College and obtained a degree as an HVAC technician. The rest of his working career was spent in that industry and eventually he started his own business. He helped many folks in a pinch get their units back going. He lived for some time in Alabama but moved back to Mississippi when he married his wife, Freida Taylor Lambert, on August 15, 2009, and made his home in the Burton Community

Roy had an intense interest in politics and history. He served as an election commission for a time in Marshall County. He could quote every President of the United States, every state and capital and he loved to make connections with people and let them know who they were kin to---sometimes unbeknown to even them! Those who knew him best said that his favorite past time was arguing: "he would argue with a sign post!"

Roy made a profession of faith and became a member of Mount Olive Church of God in 1958. During the latter part of his life, he and his wife Freida faithfully attended New Burton Baptist Church. While others might have stayed home, Roy simply devoted himself to attending church and was described as a "gold star member" because of his devotion. Roy was also an active member of "Burton Breakfast Bunch" at the Burton One Stop where he kept current with the news, politics and activities of the community.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Nila Noble (Jeff) and Eloise Hendrix (Jay); his brothers, M.C. Lambert (Elsie) and Doyle Lambert (Mary); his in-laws, Dayton & Ethel Taylor; his brother-in-law, Donald Taylor and his first wife, Nancy James Lambert.

In addition to his wife of 14 years, Roy leaves behind his son, Josh Francis (Misty) of Waterloo, Alabama; his step-son, Brad Wilemon (Angie); his brother, Larry Lambert (Jackie) of Booneville; his sister, Bonita McVey of Booneville; his sister-in-law, Diane Lambert; his granddaughters, Emily Grace Wilemon, Amiee Moody (Cody), Alexis Francis and Savannah Francis and his great-grandson, Justin Moody.

Pallbearers are Jared Benson, Rick Knight, Bob Hendrix, Robert Hendrix, Jeff Lambert, Jim Lambert, John Lambert, and Marty Lambert. Honorary pallbearers are the men of New Burton Baptist Church and the members of the Burton Breakfast Bunch.

A receiving of family and friends will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Kesler Funeral Home - Booneville Chapel. Internment will be at New Hope Church Cemetery on Highway 30 East.
