Portia Jourdan Lindsey

 Portia Jourdan Lindsey passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 1st 1950 in Booneville, MS to Ray & Dorothy Scruggs.

She is survived by her children, Phillip, Sherry, & Deanna (Brown)Stidham; her grandchildren, Reese Brown, Belle Stidham, Sean & Reagan Dormody & great grandchild Parker Dormody.

She was welcomed into the pearly gates by her father & mother Ray & Dorothy Jourdan who preceded her in death.

Momma is now resting in the arms of her Lord & Savior. We love & miss you momma & we know we will see you again someday soon, where together we will join you in the presence of God's perfect unconditional love with no tears, pain, or sorrow, forevermore! 

  Portia(momma) was a loving & caring nurse & for that service was praised by many. She loved playing the piano for many years at church & taught Deanna & Sherry how to harmonize to sing & she passed on the talent of music to her great children Reagan & Reese. She passed down her amazing sense of humor mostly to her son Phillip but definitely shared enough to the rest of her family in each generation. She worked 3 jobs at times to make sure we had the things we needed & then some! She set an example of a strong spirit & dedication & resilience by raising 3 children as a single parent. She had an infectious laugh & childlike heart & as many describe, a sweet soul. She had a deep love for her dogs/companions, Sky and Sissy.

  Mom's visitation/viewing will be Friday August 22, 2025 from 5-8 pm & her funeral service/celebration of her life will be held on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 12 noon & both will be at Rowland Mills Church in Burnsville, MS. Burial will immediately follow the service. Please join us friends and loved ones & bring old precious stories, memories or pictures you may have to honor her memory! God bless...
