Paul William Coker (89) passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He worked for 31+ years at Mid-South Packers and 6+ years at Bajas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, doing yard work, riding horses & four-wheelers, having cookouts and spending time with his family. He also loved riding around in his little red truck.
Services are 11 am Thursday, August 31, 2023 in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Manley and Bro. Kenneth Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
Paul is survived by his sons, Paul William "Bud" Coker (Kim) of Blue Springs and Christopher Patrick "Pat" Coker (Linda) of Mt. Vernon; his daughters, Paula Sue Davidson (Kenneth) of Carolina Community and Clara "Teletha" Newell (Joseph) of Tupelo; his brothers, Melvin Coker of Shannon and Dean Coker (Mary) of Belden; his sister, Mildred Pannell of Okolona; his grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, John Davidson (Cyndi), Logan Davidson (Talitha), Maeghan Carter (Ewell), Tyler Coker, Corey Coker and Jeremy Stanley (Kristil); 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; the mother of his youngest child, Pamela Wayne Coker and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.C. & Nannie Alliene Coker; his daughter, Connie Jean Coker; his grandchildren, William Glenn Johnson, Jr., Christina Michelle Johnson, Kerry Rena Seawright and Jennifer Lynn Johnson; his great-grandchild, Stephen Nathaniel Johnson; the mother of his children, Shirley Jean Coker; 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Pallbearers are Tyler Coker, Corey Coker, Jeremy Stanley, Todd Rakestraw, Doug Dickey, Larry Campbell, Jamie Coker, Kevin Coker and Christopher Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews and close friends.
