Mernie Smith Guthrie

Mernie Smith Guthrie (92) passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at her home in Blackland. She was a member of Tuscumbia Baptist Church. She worked at Cobden National Bank in IL for 25 years and later moved back home to be with her family in 1999. Her biggest passion was her flowers. She loved to raise them and tend to them as needed. She also loved spending time with her family.

Services are 2 pm Sunday, April 24, 2022 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Pilcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-2 pm Sunday in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.

Mernie is survived by her daughter, Donna Cartmell (Michael) of Ashland; her sisters, Barbara McCoy of Cairo and Genella Holmes (Lester) of Southaven; her step-daughter, Earline Cyrill of SC; her special friend, Jo Ellen Dodds of Hills Chapel; her grandchildren, Jimmy Brown (Leah), Scott Brown (Nina), Shawn Brown, Tim Adams, Jamie Adams, Andrea Oliver, John Cyrill and Frank Paul Cyrill; her great-grandchildren, Ashley Ward, Vince Brown, Landon Brown, Shelby Brown, Kindell Brown and Jeremiah Brown and several great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Guthrie; her parents, Daisy and Uless Smith; her brothers, Ezra "Buck" and James "Samp" Smith; her sister, Madge Brooks and her step-daughter, Bobbie Adams.

Pallbearers are; Landon Brown, Vince Brown, Kass McCoy, Drew Copeland and Spencer Clement.
