Luther Raybon Childs, Sr.

Luther Raybon Childs, Sr. (86) passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, peacefully at his home with his family at his side after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born July 7, 1939 in Tippah County, MS to the late Grover and Ruby Follon Childs. He was a graduate of Rienzi High School in 1959 and Nashville Auto Diesel College in 1963. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army. He retired from Qubecor World after 26 years and later retired from the Department of Corrections and 7 years.

He was a member of Jacinto Baptist Church for over 57 years and he proudly served as a Deacon for 45 years.

Raybon loved being on the farm tinkering with his tractor and farm equipment. He loved having a large garden with lots of flowers for his wife.

Services are 2 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2026 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Ken White officiating. Burial will follow in the Spout Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-2 pm Tuesday in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.

Raybon is survived by his loving wife of 57 1/2 years, Glenda Stephenson Childs of Jacinto; his son, Luther Raybon Childs, Jr. of Jacinto; his daughters, Amie Arnold (Jeff) of Pisgah and Linda Childs of Rienzi; his grandchildren, Cody Arnold, Stephen Brady, Devon Brady and Shannon Arnold (Hunter Lewis); his great grandchildren, Bentely Lewis, Carson Brady and Adalyn Brady; his brother, Harrison Childs of Corinth and his sisters, Maudie Richardson (Bro. Raybon) of Corinth, Martha Perkins of Raleigh and Janet Childs of Corinth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. E.O. Stephenson; 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
