Laurie (L.H.) Phillips (94) of Myrtle, Mississippi passed away on November 19, 2024 after a short illness. Laurie is survived by one Son and five Daughters, Michelle Phillips, Laurie Watson, Tamera Richardson, Gina Tate, Kim Duncan, Beau Phillips; his sister, Annette Moore; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved and was proud of.
Laurie was born in and spent his early childhood in Orangeburg, South Carolina later moving to Memphis, Tennessee where he retired from Memphis Light & Water as a Lineman for 26 years of service. After retirement from MLG&W, he worked for Alyeska Pipeline Services spending several years in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska finally settling in Myrtle, Mississippi until his death.
Laurie was well-read, had immense interests, and loved to research diverse projects. Laurie was known widely in the New Albany area and had a myriad of friends. He was generous with his time and resources and always ready to help when he could. He had a keen sense of humor and was fun to be around, especially when he told stories about his life. He found humor in the smallest things and always asserted his opinion. Once you met Laurie, you would never forget him! As they say, "They threw the mold away when they made him"! Laurie will always be in our memories.
His family will hold a "Celebration of Life" honoring Laurie in the future.
