Laurene "Maw" Whitley

Laurene "Maw" Whitley (79) passed away Tuesday April 18, 2023 at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility in Baldwyn. She was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cleaning, cooking, going to Wal-Mart and going to church.

Services will be 11 am Saturday April 22, 2023 at Little Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Jeremy Johnson, Bro. Ben Johnson and Bro. Ray Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday April 21, 2023 at Little Creek Baptist Church.

Laurene is survived by her husband of 49 years, Francis Whitley; her sons, Stevie Thompson (Pam) of Mantachie and Chris Whitley (Christy) of Wheeler; her brothers, Jackie Thompson of Mantachie and David Thompson (Doris) of Mooreville; her twin sister, Charlene McGill (Doug) of Jericho, and her sister, Sue Wilson of Mantachie; her brothers-in-law, Robert Whitley (Martha) and Charles Whitley; her sister-in-law, Terressia Miles; her grandchildren, Jessica White (Justin), Austin "Buck" Thompson (Lindsey) and Caitlynn Whitley; her great-grandchildren, Jase and Jenna White, Willa Thompson, and Elle and Sawyer McCarley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Madge Thompson; her brother, Verlon Thompson; her in-laws, Relmer and Mattie Lee Whitley; her niece, Penny Taylor; her sisters-in-law, Linda Thompson and Mary Whitley; and her brothers-in-law, Harvey Wilson, Gary Miles and Billy Whitley.

Pallbearers are Austin "Buck" Thompson, Justin White, Jase White, Brad Taylor, Tim Thornton, Jackie Nix, Chris Pullen, Jeremy Barnes, Gerry Barnes, Mike Whitley, Bradley Miles and Wesley Miles.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Baldwyn Nursing Facility.
