James Wayne "Chunky" Cheatham (76) passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was born March 5, 1949 to the late Elmer & Myrle Cheatham. He lived most of his life in Kirkville/Mantachie/Marietta area. He loved his family and friends. He wanted everyone to know that he loved each and everyone of his family and friends. He loved to aggravate people. He lived for it.
Chunky and Woodie (youngest brother) owned a furniture business and he also worked at MMR. Chunky and Woodie traveled a lot with this company.
Chunky loved building & disassembling things, an avid hunter, and loved raising and training dogs. He had a small hunting club. It was more for the brotherhood/sisterhood get togethers. He just loved being around people. He also loved eating banana pudding.
Services are 1 pm Friday, April 4, 2025 in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Douglas Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkville Cemetery. Visitation will be 11-1 Friday in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
Chunky is survived by his god-daughter, Cathy Bryant (David); his two god-grandchildren, Kayla Hale and Kenzie Bryant; his brother, Charles Cheatham and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his niece, Christy Timmons; his sister, Betty Timmons (Thomas); his brothers, Ray, Ramon (Lucille), Fermon, Dean (Dot) & Woodie and his sister-in-law, Margaret (wife of Charles).
