James C. Brown I

James C. Brown I (76) passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Black Oak Eagles and the Local 578 in Chicago. He enjoyed living on his land and taking care of his dogs.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, October 5, 2023 in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Prescott Cemetery in AL.

James is survived by his sons, James C. Brown II of AL, Alex Herman Brown I of New Site, Byron Ray Brown of AL and Ferlin Watkins (Elaine) of IN; his daughters, Misty Renee Brown (Tim Garrison) of New Site, Thelma Krejci (Thomas Sr.) of IN and Jamie Lee Brown of TN; his sisters, E. Louise Kelley of FL and Janice Brown of AL and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Mark Brown; his parents, Mark Herman & Annie Gertrude Brown and his brothers, Wescott Brown & Jack Early.

Pallbearers are Alex Brown, James Brown II, Byron Brown and Tim Garrison.
