Jackie Lee Chism (70) passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was of Christian faith. He was a proud member of the 1969 state championship basketball team at Baldwyn. He was a loyal employee at JESCO M&E for nearly 50 years. He loved working, meeting people, talking, watching westerns and traveling all over the country for work. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Services are 11 am Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Guin and Bro. Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Monday, May 15, 2023 in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Chism of Kirkville; his son, Ben Chism of Ozark; his daughter, Brandy Underwood of Kirkville; his brothers, JC Chism (Teresa) of Pontotoc, Kenneth Chism (Carol) of Booneville, Jessie Chism (Rosemary) of Baldwyn, Mitch Chism (Tammy) of Baldwyn and Bill Chism (Brenda) of Blue Springs; his sisters, Sue Little (Joe) of Arab, AL and Betty Floyd (William) of Cordova, TN; his grandchildren, Layla Jade Underwood, Gavin James Underwood and Dylan Lee Underwood; his sisters-in-law, Pat Chism of Madison and Jan Chism of West Monroe, LA; his special niece, Karen Floyd of Anna, TX; his special friends, Barbara Melton of Somerset, KY and Amanda Poppelreiter; his special cousins, Connie Houston and Ronny Bishop and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie & Dewdrop Chism; his in-laws, Travis & Rebecca Warren; his brothers, JW Chism (Mary Lou), Leroy Chism, Dewey Chism (Keitha), Charles Chism and Bo Chism; his brother-in-law, Mike Warren; his grandmother-in-law, Letha Gardner Cash and his nephews, Ricky and Adam Chism.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Tyes, Tish Tyes, Barbara Mullins, Frankie Shelley, Larry Kimbrough, Lanny Shelley and Corey Davis.
Honorary pallbearers are Paul Barnes, Steve Heatherly, Clint Underwood, Jeremy Poppelreiter and his friends and family that he met while working in Somerset, KY.
