Harold Roger Jumper (80) passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at his home in Booneville. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Pontotoc, Mississippi Bar Association and the Lions Club. He was a 1961 graduate of Frayser High School in Memphis, TN. He worked for Redball Freight Lines, (Memphis hub), for 22 years as rate clerk/office supervisor. He returned to Memphis State fulltime and worked at Gordon's Truck Lines in Memphis at nights as a rate clerk. He was a 1985 graduate of Memphis State University Law School with a Juris Doctor Law degree. He worked for MS DHS as Senior/ Staff Attorney for 25 years. Upon retirement, he returned to his hobbies of motorcycles, fast cars and boats that he loved as a younger man. His later days were enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the banana trees grow with his cat Gomer by his side or watching war documentaries and movies.
Services are 3 pm Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Caples, Bro. Jason Middleton and Bro. Kevin Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Mormon Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 pm Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
Harold is survived by his wife of 32 years, Colleen Dona Ward Jumper of Booneville; his daughters, Leigh Ann Mercer of Hernando and Olivia Ann Mink of Booneville; his brother, Donny L. Jumper of New Albany; his sister, Debby Jumper Lundy (Kevin) of Memphis; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Smith of Booneville and Sandra Ward of Booneville; his grandchildren, Crystal Lickteig (Bobby) of Hernando, Tret Mink of Booneville and Charli Mink of Booneville and his great-grandchildren, Carson and Addyson Lickteig of Hernando.
He was preceded in death his father, Duel Elwood Jumper; his mother and stepfather, Winnie and Jewel Wallace; his son-in-law, David Mercer; his grandson, Michael Mercer and his beloved cat, Gomer.
Pallbearers are Gary Bryant, Ricky Bryant, David Sabine, Don Boyd, Dyrel Foster and Gregg White.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Mink, Charlie Hodum, Drew Gordon, Dewey Wilemon, Billy Harrison, Bennie Martin, Tracy Clayton, Neil Cruse and Carlton Wallace.
