Geraldine Christopher Whitmire Obituary

Lena Geraldine Christopher Whitmire (85) passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, January 17, 2023.  Geraldine, although affectionately known as “Jeri,” was born November 11, 1937 to the late Jabe H. Christopher and Maggie Lou Sansing Christopher in Pheba, Mississippi.  She was a beautician in West Point where she operated a beauty shop inside her home which can most closely be compared to that of the much loved movie Steel Magnolias.  She was dearly loved by all that knew her, and had a sense of humor unlike any other.  Her strength, fierce work ethic, and passion for others were only a few of her many endearing qualities.  Jeri married James Whitmire on New Year’s Eve in 1978 and they shared a wonderful life together for 45 years.  The love story they shared was one to withstand the tests of time.  Jeri and James spent their life in West Point before moving to Booneville in 2016 to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.  Jeri was a member of First Baptist Church Booneville where she loved her Sunday School class and monthly luncheons with the Joymakers.  Aside from her personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family was the most important thing to Jeri.  She loved being “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the happiest when her family was all together, and loved cooking huge meals for holidays.  She was a fantastic cook, and her biscuits and gravy could not be beaten.  She was a force to be reckoned with, and her absence will definitely be felt by all.
Services will be held in Booneville on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Kesler Funeral Home with visitation prior to service from 10:00am until service time at 11:00am in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.  Burial will follow on Friday, January 20th at Memorial Gardens in West Point, Mississippi.  A time of visitation will be held at First Christian Church West Point from 10am-11am prior to graveside services at 11:30am.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Whitmire of Booneville; Two daughters, Anne Blair (Lee) of Savannah, Tennessee, and Dawn Davidson (Dr. C. L.) of Booneville; five grandchildren: Jarrod Blair (Rebecca) of Germantown, Tennessee, Dr. Max Davidson (Sabrina) of Belden,  Elizabeth Blair Lair of Tupelo, Lauren Davidson Null (Gabe) of Booneville, Dr. James Raleigh Davidson (Dr. Sarah) of Searcy, Arkansas; great-grandchildren: Ethan Blair, Eli Blair, Libby Lee Lair, Collins Null, Merritt Null, Mary Randall Davidson, Maggie Davidson, Maeve Davidson, Gracie McClain, Maggie McClain, and Hadley Davidson; one nephew: Dr. George “Chris” Hurst (Julie) of West Point, and two great-nephews: Neil Hurst and Zach Hurst.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jabe H. Christopher and Maggie Lou Sansing Christopher, her beloved sister and brother-in-law Hamp and Gilda Hurst, and an infant grandson, Jabe Christopher Blair.
