Freda Whitley (86) passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Cedars Health Center in Tupelo. She was a member of Martin Hill Free Will Baptist Church and also attended Bissell Baptist Church. She was an exceptional cook who always loved to feed her family and friends. She was a passionate Ole Miss Rebel fan, but her biggest passion was her family. She loved taking care of her family and prayed immensely for each of them.
Services are 2 pm Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Martin Hill Free Will Baptist Church with her son, Bro. Jack Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday, January 9, 2026 at Martin Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Freda is survived by her loving children, Jack Whitley (Rhonda) of Booneville and Cathy Whitley Chase (Michael) of Belden; her brother, Luther Moorman (Joan) of Booneville; her sisters, Juanita Beard of Booneville and Mary King (Sonny) of Booneville; her beloved grandchildren, Jay Whitley (Jessica) of Michie, TN, Emily Phifer (Daniel) of Booneville and Jeffrey Chase (Natalie) of Columbus; her precious great grandchildren, Hunter, Lulu, Austin, Jaicey Ruth, Asher, Madi, Braxton, Caroline, Hampton and Shepard and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Whitley, Sr.; her parents, LB & Elvia Moorman; her sisters, Delphia Stites, Delma McKinney, Moise McKinney, Willa Dean Horn, Betty Jo Jones and Sue Jones and her brothers, SL & UL Moorman.
Pallbearers are Mark Walden, Ben Stennett, Jay Whitley, Jeffrey Chase, Braxton Phifer and Daniel Phifer.
