Everett Ellis Hurt, Jr.

Everett Ellis Hurt, Jr. (78) passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a member of Chapman Church of Christ. He attended Northeast for two years and majored in Industrial Arts. For over 40 years, he was the owner/operator of Handle Mill / Bandsaw Mill. He also spent much of his life being a foster parent. He studied and respected nature and God's creations. He had a deep love for his family.

Services are 1 pm Friday, April 19, 2024 at Chapman Church of Christ (250 CR 550 Ripley, MS 38863) with Bro. James Pilgrim and Bro. Mark Lindley officiating. Burial will follow in Scruggs Cemetery. Visitation will be 11-1 Friday at Chapman Church of Christ.

Everett is survived by his loving wife, Margie Sue Hurt of Ripley; his daughter, Mary Ann Owens (Billy Leon, Jr.) of Amory; his son, Everett Malone Hurt (Melissa) of Ripley; his sister, Annette Brooks of Ripley; his nephew, Everett Bradley Brooks of Ripley; his niece, Beth Ann Haigh (Campbell) of Acworth, GA; his beloved grandchildren, Emma-Lee Belle Hurt, Chris Hurt, Hayleigh Hurt, Josh Hurt, Timothy Owens, Larry Owens, Anna Leigh Owens, Emily Owens, James Ronowski, Sara Rorie and Georgia McCormick and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Ellis Hurt, Sr. & Lillie Belle Stroupe Hurt; his foster son, Gary Mason; his in-laws, David B. & Lucille Robinson and his nephew, David Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers are Larry Wood, Larry Owens, Timothy Owens, Josh Franks, Clint Franks, Buck Franks and James Ronowski.
