Ernie Stephens (78) passed away at 6:30 am Thursday, December 26, 2024 at his home after a sudden illness. He was married to his lifelong sweetheart, Eloise Williams on December 22, 1964. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church, where he was known as the candy man. His favorite pastimes included woodworking, to include swing building, serving at Ozark Baptist Church and spending time with family and friends.
Services are 2 pm Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Ozark Baptist Church with Bro. Dempsey Rowland, Bro. Kenny Fleming and Bro. James Young officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Saturday, December 28, 2024, and 12-2 pm Sunday December 29, 2024 at Ozark Baptist Church.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eloise Williams Stephens of Kirkville; his children, Eric and Paula Stephens of Kirkville; his grandchildren, Reed Stephens (Hope) of Mantachie, Paten Davis (Bud) of Fulton, William, Nathaniel and Samson Stephens of Iuka, and Egidijus of Lithuania; his great-grandchildren, Ivy Davis, Neomi Stephens, Ruby Davis, Claire Stephens and Lennon Davis; and his honorary grandchildren, Collelynn, Collandrea, Collelijah, Briella, Mac, Charlotte Eloise, Hank, Dixie Roseand Danny Joe.
Pallbearers are Bud Davis, Reed Stephens, Paul (PJ) Williams, Nate Stephens, Josh Chambers and Bubba Chambers.
Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Palmer.
