Donnie Gilmore Obituary

Donnie Gilmore (69) took his Savior's hand and walked into heaven on January 7, 2026. He was born to Lonnie Gilmore and Aileen Gilmore on December 17, 1956.

He attended Shannon Schools, where he played football. He went to work at an early age, with his first job being at Page's supermarket. He later went to work at Dixie Pools where he began a career of building swimming pools. He worked in the pool business for 45 years. He traveled to Alabama, Tennessee and even to Arkansas building beautiful pools. He retired but didn't like staying at home so he went to work at Allied Security in Saltillo. He worked there until August of 2024, when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Donnie will be remembered as a friend to many and someone who would stop what he was doing to help others. He was of Baptist faith and loved his Lord and Savior.

Donnie leaves his wife, Donna Gilmore; his children, Don Gilmore (Ashley) of Tupelo, Chris Gilmore of Tillatoba, Dedra Griffis (Torrance) of Ingomar and Dustin Pannell of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Dillon (Paige), Brianna (Will), Hunter (Ashton), Alyssa, Jaicee, Berrick, Kailey Grace, Benly, Eboni, Zavion and Taylor (who lived in the home); and five great-grandchildren and one arriving in June.

He was also proud of his "boys", Kevin Curry, Junior Dunaway, Kenny Hallmark, Ben Waldrip and Robby Sandlin, who he loved as his own children. He was also so thankful for his hospice nurse, Sharon Cox.

Visitation will be 5-7pm Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks to make donations to Sanctuary Hospice or NMMC Hospice.
