Diane Ledbetter Obituary

Selfless, caring, contained, content, thoughtful, organized, nature loving, compassionate, and a flower......

Just a few of the descriptions from Diane's grands! What a celebration of her life as they sat around her table surrounded by her photo albums, her IPad and her many memories. They all cried and laughed and loved a woman who touched each of their lives in such impactful ways. Such a kind and gentle soul, yet a determined, strong woman who taught diligence and service to all those around her. She shared herself not only with her family but with many families in the area as she cared for their children.

Diane was born May 16, 1949, and was the 6th child of Walter Alan and Sally Exie (Roten) Glidewell. Diane grew up in a large family. Her siblings Lurlee Vee, Durrell, Willie Dee, Dorlis and Reford have now passed on leaving Diane and Rickey to carry on and teach the family memories. To Rickey, she would say now...... it's up to you to make sure they know.

Diane attended Jumpertown High School. She married to Larry Green for over 10 years. "Little" Larry, Wendy and Chris were born to her during these years. Her life was not without pain, as they lost "Little" Larry just a few days into his new life. And later in 2022 she lost her daughter Wendy.

Mid-life Diane married James H. (Bud) Ledbetter and was blessed with 2 more daughters, Kelly (Sims) and Jema (Nunley). Diane and Bud enjoyed 25 years together until his death in 1999. Later in life, Diane enjoyed companionship with Elbert Moore for 12 years until his death in 2013.

Diane never knew life without hard work and sacrifice. From the field work of her youth, to babysitting in her teens, to office work and several industries, to a return to babysitting in the last 26 years of her life, work was just part of her life. Despite the hard work, her love, her patience, her enduring spirit, and her nurturing of others, especially children, never stopped. She truly CARED for all those in her life.

Diane took time to enjoyed simple things too, taking great pride in her home, loving and studying God's word, storing family photos and memories and working in her flowers and garden. She shared herself with others, made many homecooked meals and taught kindness all along the way. She stayed connected to those she loved and even reached out often to her extended FL family, helping them to stay in touch with their MS roots.

Diane is survived by 3 of her 5 children, Chris Green (Amy), Kelly Sims (Mikel), Jema Nunley (Brandon) and one brother, Rickey Glidewell (Anne). She leaves 17 grands and great grands---Chrissy Green, Justin Davis, Wesley Gray, Ashley Gray, Paige Jackson, Kaylee Hobson, Emily Elliott, Abby Stevenson, Marly Stevenson, Alec Nunley, Bella Nunley, Skyla Stevenson, Memphis Evans, Haven Hamblin, Landon Cook, Emery Jackson and Canaan Gray. Her extended family in this area and in Florida cherish her life and celebrate the many memories she leaves with us.

If Diane's life taught us anything, it is to love family, love and teach the children, share and give to others, and stop and enjoy the simple things. We thank her for a life well-lived and loved and for sharing and giving to each of us.
