David Massey (86) passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026 at his home in Rienzi. He attended Tuscumbia Baptist Church. In his lifetime he held many jobs, he was a truck driver, run Royster Farm Supply, built his own business named "Massey Feed & Farm Supply", worked at Quartet and then at Ryder Trandpsortation. When he retired he just couldn't stand it, so he went to work at Booneville Walmart. He also worked many years for the Town or Rienzi and served several terms on Rienzi's Board of Alderman. He was affectionately known as "Uncle David" or "Papaw David".
Services are 2 pm Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Tuscumbia Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Hatfield and Bro. Rex Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in the Booneville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Monday, May 25, 2026 and 12-2 Tuesday at Tuscumbia Baptist Church.
David is survived by his daughters, Mitzi Potts of Holtspur and Christi Counce of Biggersille; his brother, Tommy Massey (Brenda) of Booneville; his granddaughter, Alexandria Counce of Biggersille; his special grandchildren, Kayson Hill and Chaley Brewer; his nieces, Kellie Shadburn (Roger) and Angileah Chase (Daniel); his nephews, Billy Wilemon, Ricky Wilemon (Brenda) and Brandon Massey (Ashley) and a host of other great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joy Bonds Massey; his parents, J.W. (Bill) & Gladys Massey; his sister, Ruby Wilemon and his son-in-law, Ronnie Potts.
Pallbearers are Brandon Massey, Daniel Chase, Christopher Shadburn, Elijah Shadburn, Wesley Shadburn and Tyler Barnes.
Honorary pallbearers are Doug Johnson, Chad Potts, Jason Cox, Junior Cox, Randy Hill, Danny Rowsey, Jerry Benjamin, Brandon Moore and Jeff Trim.
