Clarene Stevens Goddard

Clarene Stevens Goddard (92) passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at her home surrounded by her daughters and granddaughter.

She graduated from Smithville High School in 1950 and then attended Itawamba Junior College and later graduated from Blue Mountain College.

She was employed by the Prentiss County Department of Human Services for 27 years and retired as director in 1992. After retirement, she enjoyed having more time for family, working with her flowers, bird watching, reading and traveling. She had been active in the First Methodist Church Women's group and Wesley Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Pilot Club, Friends of the Library and Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Dessie Stevens of Smithville, MS; her husband, E.J. Goddard of Booneville, MS; her granddaughter, Jessica Saunders of Mobile, AL, her nephew, Lee Ashley Frederick of Smithville, Ms and her son-in-law, Clinton "Buddy" Windham

She is survived by her four children, Cathy Beckett (Jim) of Memphis, TN, Julian "Hule" Goddard (Loretta) of Wilmore, Kentucky, Dr. Jerome Goddard (Rosella) of Starkville, MS and Amy Blassingame (Scott) of Tupelo, MS; her grandchildren, Jennifer Windham, Sarah Goddard, Jeremy Goddard, Julianne Goddard, Joseph Goddard, Anna Chamblee, Ben Blassingame, Claire Blassingame and John Blassingame and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by all of her siblings: Willene Joyce Leech of Amory, MS, Patsy Frederick (Jerry) of Smithville, MS and Bo Stevens (Judy) of Smithville, MS.

Services are 3 pm Friday, October 25, 2024 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with her sons, Julian "Hule" Goddard and Jerome Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in the Amory Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-3 pm Friday in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Jerry Frederick, Scott Blassingame, Jeremy Goddard, Joseph Goddard, Ben Blassingame and John Blassingame.
