Braxton LaDale Rutland

Braxton LaDale Rutland (75) of Baldwyn, MS was born June 28, 1950 in Jayess, MS. He passed from this life on July 16, 2025 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo surrounded by his family. 

Braxton was the pastor of New Bethel Apostolic Church in Baldwyn, where he served for 35 years. He was a loving husband, a great father, a devoted Paw-Paw and great-grandpa. From an early age he was a hard worker. Whether hunting elk or fishing for crappie, he loved spending time in the great outdoors. Without a doubt, his greatest love was serving Jesus.

Services are 2 pm Friday, July 18, 2025 at New Bethel Apostolic Church in Baldwyn with Dale Rutland, Merl Dixon, Ray Bowling and Jerry Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow in Rutland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, July 17, 2025 at New Bethel Apostolic Church.

Braxton is survived by his wife, Sandra Lambert Rutland; his sons, Dale Rutland (Melanie) of Guntown, Thomas Rutland (Crystal) of Mantachie and Larry Rutland of Baldwyn; his daughters, Pam Thrasher (Kennith) of Booneville, Layle Rutland of Baldwyn and Mary Beth Allred (Jeff) of Baldwyn; his brothers, Gayle Rutland (Sue) of Jayess and Tommy Rutland (Cathy) of Jayess; his sisters, Glenda Marberry of Clinton, Bonnie Phillips of Jayess and Jeanette Perry of McComb; his grandchildren, Brittany Pope (Quitman) of Booneville, Ashley Mitchell of Booneville, Courtney Williams (Bruce) of Booneville, Dylan Ellis of AL, Harlee Rutland of Mantachie, Molly Ellis of Baldwyn, Gentry Rutland of Guntown, Hagen Rutland of Mantachie and Abby Ellis of Baldwyn; and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sara Rutland; his son, Braxton Rutland, Jr.; his brothers, Patrick Rutland, Donald Rutland and Joe Rutland; and his sister, Birtie Temple.

Pallbearers are Bruce Williams, Quitman Pope, Randle Fair, Dylan Ellis, Gentry Rutland and Hagen Rutland.

Honorary pallbearers are Korbin Williams, Jake Mitchell, Knox Pope, Kolsyn Williams and Memphis Pope.
