Billy Joe Smart

Billy Joe Smart (84) passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a member of Gaston Baptist Church and Dixie Iron Tractor Club. He enjoyed puling tractors, gardening, spending time and talking about his grandkids, and going to Catfish Hotel.

Services are 2 pm Monday, November 25, 2024 at Gaston Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Middleton officiating. Burial will follow in Booneville Cemetery. Visitation will be 12- 2 pm Monday, November 25, 2024 at Gaston Baptist Church.

Billy is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patsy Smart of Booneville; his daughter, Lori Taylor of Baldwyn; his stepson, Chris Gates (Kristie) of Corinth; his brothers, Jerry Smart (Donna) of Jumpertown and Gilford Smart (Jane) of Jumpertown; his sisters, Martha Louise "Sis" Prather (JC) of Booneville, Mary Sue Perrigo of Pisgah, Lynn Corbin (Freddie) of Pisgah and Anita Turner (Tommy) of Booneville; his grandchildren, Dr. Jana Taylor-Beard (Cameron) of Pratts, Joseph Taylor of Baldwyn, John Mark Taylor (fiance, Chloe Nanney) of Baldwyn and Joshua Taylor of Baldwyn; his sister-in-law, Sharon Smart; his special dog friend, Flossy Mae; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Smart, his parents, Henry and Ruby Smart; his twin brother, Bobby Smart; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Burnis and Susie Morris; his nephews, Bric Turner and Justin Perrigo; and his brother-in-law, Jackie Perrigo.

Pallbearers are Joseph Taylor, John Mark Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Cameron Beard, Jason Smith and Jeff Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers are his Adult 5 Sunday School Class and Dr. Jonathan Kalish.
