Bennie Charles Bohannon (83) passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a member of East Marietta Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, working on lawnmowers, riding his four-wheeler and watching wrestling, NASCAR and Alabama Football. During his younger years he had a deep passion for helping his parents work in the garden. Before his health declined, Bennie loved waking up every morning and having breakfast with his friends at the community store. He loved people and thoroughly enjoyed giving back to his community.
Services are 2 pm Friday, August 1, 2025 at East Marietta Baptist Church with Bro. Ray Hall and Bro. Sonny Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumners Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-2 pm Friday at East Marietta Baptist Church.
Bennie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Sue Bohannon of Marietta; his son, Charles William Bohannon (Laura) of Blue Springs; his daughters, Kim Pruitt (Eric) of Baldwyn, Georgia Lewis of Booneville and Patti Pruitt of Dennis; his brother, Ed Bohannon of Belmont; his sisters, Marie Stevens (Danny) of Marietta and Josie Smith (Junior) of Baldwyn; his grandchildren, Chad James, Brett James (Jessica), Will Pruitt, Amanda Pruitt, Kyra Prater (Brandon), Ben Pruitt, Jesse Dunn (Lindsey), Jon-Thomas Dunn (Jessica), Anna Gentle (Jeremy) and Clara "CJ" Taylor and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Doc" & Audrey Bohannon; his sister-in-law, Laverne Bohannon and his great-grandchildren, Daniel Gentle, Payton James, Eric McCoy and Riley McCoy.
Pallbearers are Randle Wildmon, Tony Wildmon, Robert Botts, Gary Short, Sonny Knight, Ronnie Clark, Cary Clark and Case Clark.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Marietta Baptist Church for the Rosemary's House of Hope.
